989 Studios

Aug, 1995:

• Sony Interactive Studios America is formed by the merger of Sony Imagesoft with the development branch of SCEA.

1998:

• When Eidos Interactive buys Psygnosis' European operations, Psygnosis' US operations are folded into 989 Studios.

Apr, 1998:

• When the team leaves to found Red Zone Interactive, Inc. in December 1997, Sony Interactive Studios America goes defunct. A few months later it is relaunched as 989 Studios.

1999:

• A part of the team working on online games such as EverQuest breaks off to form Verant Interactive.

Apr 01, 2000:

• The whole of 989 Studios (with Verant Interactive) is merged back into SCEA.
