Overview

The main creation of the Japanese company Atlus is the role-playing franchise Megami Tensei, or Megaten for short. Digital Devil Monogatari, released in 1987, was the first in the unusual series of RPGs which were mostly set in futuristic Japan, focused on deep religious and ethical questions, and allowed you to talk to, recruit, and summon demons to fight in your party. Shin Megami Tensei was the landmark game that made Megaten one of the most popular Japanese RPG franchises in its homeland. Beside Megaten, Atlus also published several strategy RPG games, most notable Ogre Battle series.
