Blue Planet Software, Inc.
Overview
From the company's website: founded by Henk Rogers in 1996; develops software for Windows and video game consoles, and its primary product (thus far) has been Tetris games.
Blue Planet Software is the obvious and logical successor to Henk Rogers' Bullet-Proof Software, formed around 1980. Henk was the son of an international businessman, and while living in Japan programmed a RPG called "Black Onyx" (an apparent reference to his father's gem wholesale business- the "Onyx" name lives on in Blue Planet's current 3D game engine.) He formed Bullet-Proof in response to the overwhelming success of Black Onyx in the Japanese market (100,000+ sales), to distribute the sequel "Fire Crystal". BPS soon after became a Nintendo Japan licensee with close connections to the chairman Hiroshi Yamauchi. Because of the close ties, Henk and BPS were used by Nintendo to gain Western console rights to Tetris, behind the back of several other companies who believed they already had the rights.
