Blue Tongue Entertainment Pty, Ltd.
Overview
Originally started in 1995 as Blue Tongue Software, BT is one of only a handful of Australian computer game developers currently developing titles for worldwide release. Providing web development services in their early years, BT soon moved into the video game market with a bang in Australia with AFL Finals Fever in 1996, which reached no.3 on the Australian sales charts, selling 15,000 units.
Their next title, Riding Star, was their first international release, and has spawned many ports, including conversions for the Sony Playstation and Nintendo GameBoy.
Starship Troopers sees BT joining forces with long time leaders in the board game market, Hasbro, as well as Microprose, in the biggest title that the young Australian team has developed.
Blue Tongue have developed strong bonds with Melbourne IT, Ericsson Australia and Victoria University, as well as developing their own cross-platform game engine.
