OverviewElectronic Arts Chicago was founded as a merger of different internal EA development teams: the Def Jam and Fight Night teams from EA Canada, and NuFX. The campus was initially set up in downtown Hoffman Estates, IL, just outside Chicago city proper, but an additional studio was placed in October 2006, in the heart of the city.
On 6th November 2007 the division was closed. Frank Gibeau, President of the EA Games label, sent out a memo that the location had grown dramatically in the past three years while revenue from the games developed there had not. The sequel to Def Jam: Icon was cancelled. At that time, the company was also working on a Marvel fighting game. Most of the developers moved on to Robomodo, Inc, formed in January 2008.
