Overview

Gastronaut Studios is a game development company founded in 2002 by Jacob Van Wingen. In 2004, Gastronaut's first game, Fuzzee Fever, was launched to the original Xbox Live Arcade. Fuzzee Fever was the first Xbox Live Arcade game with Xbox Live Multiplayer and the first exclusive game to the new platform. It was entirely developed only by Van Wingen. Shortly after the release, Don Wurster came on board, as a director and programmer. In 2007, they have one full time artist, and work with contractors.

Their second game, the Xbox 360 Live Arcade title Small Arms, was released in November 2006. It was developed by 4 people.

The company focuses on downloadable consoles games and sociable games. On 24th February 2009 PopCap Games announced to have acquired the studio, the company’s assets and employees, who joined PopCap’s internal development team to work on several undisclosed projects.
