OverviewHalfbrick is a game development studio based in Queensland, Australia. It was established in 2001 and is led by Shainiel Deo who is also one of the original founders. From 2002 to 2008 the company mainly did contract work for other Australian developers. Their work on these games is often uncredited.
The global financial crisis of 2007 changed Halfbrick's activities. In the first years there were always new contracts, but from then on their pitches did not lead to any new projects. The company's survival was because of the Halfbrick Fridays initiative. Every second Friday, Halfbrick’s employees got together and prototype new ideas. This made the company come to the foreground with its own IP and projects. The game Raskulls was already in development then, but the prototyping sessions led to the creation of smaller games such as Echoes, Aero Racer, Blast Off and Age of Zombies.
The company's biggest success is the Fruit Ninja series.
