Mythic Entertainment
Overview
Mythic Entertainment is a computer game development studio located in the Washington D.C. area. It was founded in 1995 as
Interworld Productions by
Mark Jacobs and
Rob Denton to focus on online gaming. The company name was changed to
Mythic Entertainment in November 1997.
Mythic Entertainment consisted of a small group of people working on multi-player games. The company was especially known for the
Dark Age of Camelot franchise.
Mythic was acquired by
Electronic Arts in June 2006 and the name was changed to
EA Mythic. EA Mythic became a wholly-owned studio dedicated to developing Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPG's).
In an interview in July 2008 Mark Jacobs announced that the name was changed back to
Mythic Entertainment, because of an open attitude EA had taken to the development studios it owned at the time.
