Nihon Falcom Corp.

Overview

Ancient Land of Ys was originally programmed for the NEC PC 8801 by Nihon Falcom Japan, one of Kyodai's investor companies. Masayuki Kato, Falcom's president, founded the company in March of 1981. Falcom has played a definite role in the growth and development of the Japanese personal computer software industry. The company released the first Japanese role-playing game in 1983 and followed with real-time action and adventure games, as well as games with fully developed sound tracks. The introduction of "Ancient Ys Vanished," in 1987, was the first of a new genre of action-role playing software. The release of "Star Trader" in March of 1989 heralds yet another revolutionary advance, combining elements of arcade-style battle sequences with simulation, adventure and RPG features.
