• Nintendo of Europe HQ was set up as a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo Co., Ltd., based in Großostheim, Germany.

Apr 25, 2000:

• After four years of investigation after a filed complaint from Omega Electro BV in 1996 against Nintendo Netherlands B.V. and Nintendo UK Ltd., the Commission of the European Communities opens a case against Nintendo of Europe, Nintendo Co., Ltd. and 12 European Nintendo distributors for blocking parallel trades and operating a resale price maintenance policy (and therefore violating the European Community treaty).

Oct 30, 2002:

• The Commission of the European Communities find Nintendo guilty as charged and Nintendo of Europe GmbH together with Nintendo Co., Ltd. have to pay a fine of €149,128,000. (A transcription of the case can be found in this PDF document.)
