Nortec Multimedia A.E. was established in 1997. Its activities are imports and sells computer programmes, focusing particularly on software for video games.

The company was the official and exclusive representative of Nintendo in Greece and Cyprus (as of 1997), and the Balkans (as of 2002), and has a well-organised sales network with more than 500 outlets across Greece.

The main products it marketed in Greece and Cyprus were Game Boy, Nintendo 64 and Super Mario. Pokemon was the best seller for period 2000 - 2001.

In the 2015 Nortec officially announced it was ending its distribution partnership with Nintendo of Europe at the end of the year, citing trade issues with Nintendo. The following year the role of Nintendo's distributor in the region was picked up by CD Media S.E.

Nortec Multimedia A.E. officially ends their partnership with Nintendo of Europe.

The Commission of the European Communities find Nintendo guilty and Nortec Multimedia A.E., Nintendo's Greek distributor, has to pay a fine of one million Euro. (A transcription of the case can be found in this PDF document.)

April 25, 2000

After four years of investigation after a filed complaint from Omega Electro BV in 1996 against Nintendo Netherlands B.V. and Nintendo UK Ltd., the Commission of the European Communities opens a case against Nintendo of Europe GmbH, Nintendo Co., Ltd. and their 12 European distributors, including Nortec Multimedia A.E., for blocking parallel trades and operating a resale price maintenance policy (and therefore violating the European Community treaty).

The company becomes the exclusive distributor for Nintendo games in Greece.
