Out of the Park Developments GmbH & Co. KG

Overview

Out of the Park Developments GmbH & Co. KG is a German game development company co-founded by Markus Heinsohn in about 1998.

The company has created several new franchises since its inception: Inside the Park Baseball, Title Bout Championship Boxing and Out of the Park Baseball, the most successful.

The first game in the Out of the Park series was released in May 1999, with the help of Sean Lahman who sold the game through his website. In 2004, OOPD partnered with the UK company Sports Interactive Limited and was able to grow the Out of the Park franchise with Sports Interactive's coding technology and development platform.

With the purchase of Sports Interactive by Sega, however, Out of the Park Developments split away on their own and released their own branded version of OOTPB 2007 called "OOTP 8." In June 2009 the company released Out of the Park 10 (aka OOTP 10).
