OverviewOut of the Park Developments GmbH & Co. KG is a German game development company co-founded by Markus Heinsohn and Andreas Raht in 1999.
The company has created several new franchises since its inception, starting with the popular and long-running Out of the Park Baseball. OOTP Developments also publishes Franchise Hockey Manager and MLB Manager (formerly iOOTP Baseball). A new game called Beyond the Sideline Football is in development.
OOTP Developments previously published Inside the Park Baseball and Title Bout Championship Boxing, which is now owned by publisher PISD.
The first game in the Out of the Park Baseball series was released in May 1999 with the help of Sean Lahman, who sold the game through his website. In 2004, OOTPD partnered with the UK company Sports Interactive Limited and was able to grow the Out of the Park Baseball franchise with Sports Interactive's coding technology and development platform.
With the purchase of Sports Interactive by SEGA, however, Out of the Park Developments split away on their own again. As of 2015, the latest version of Out of the Park Baseball is OOTP 16, which is the first to feature full licensing from Major League Baseball, so the game can feature real league and team logos for the majors and minors, as well as historical team logos and the World Series trophy.
