Pivotal Games Ltd.
Overview
Pivotal Games Ltd was a computer game development studio formed in March 2000 by
Jim Bambra,
Nick Cook and
Alex McLean together with 12 other ex-
Pumpkin Studios veterans, and based in Bath (UK).
In September 2002 they released their first title,
Conflict: Desert Storm. It was part of a multi-product deal with the publisher
SCi, which included two further titles within the
Conflict series:
Conflict: Desert Storm II: Back to Baghdad and
Conflict: Vietnam.
SCi acquired the company in September 2003 and in May 2005 SCi acquired
Eidos as well, through which Pivotal became part of the Eidos group.
They also developed
The Great Escape, based on the movie of the same name. A fourth Conflict game,
Conflict: Global Terror, was released in 2005.
In February 2008 staff was cut by 25% and in July 2008 parent company Eidos announced plans to close down the studio.
