SOE Seattle
Overview
SOE Seattle is a development studio of
Sony Online Entertainment, based in Seattle, Washington. The establishment was first announced on 3rd February 2005. The studio is led by Director of Development
Chris Archer and consists of almost all the members of the
FireAnt, Inc. studio he founded in 2004. The SOE-Seattle team has a diverse history of game development, having worked on titles such as
Dungeon Siege,
Ultima Online,
Wing Commander,
Asheron's Call, and many others.
The studio is known for supporting and maintaining the MMORPG
The Matrix Online after Sony acquired the game from
Monolith Productions, Inc. in June 2005. The game ran until 31st July 2009 when it was discontinued. Since its establishment, the studio is also working on the spy-themed massively multiplayer shooter
The Agency.
In July 2009, studio director
Matt Wilson left the company to found
Detonator Games together with art director
Corey Dangel, and producer
John Smith who also worked at the studio.
