Softdisk Publishing

Overview

Softdisk was a publisher of "disk magazines" -- magazines distributed on disk, with programs, interviews, advertisements, etc. They were very popular from the 1980s until the mid 1990s, when the World Wide Web explosion changed the computer into a true consumer device. The programs were sometimes helpful utilities, but were mostly games you could play. Softdisk acted as a game publisher, and paid authors for their work.

A history of the company is still available on the web.

These division services include: local Internet access, web page design, multimedia presentations, online shopping on the Internet and major online services, and retail software.

Company Mission

Since its founding in 1981, Softdisk has believed that the future health and prosperity of our families and communities depend on the responsible application of new and current technologies, and on educating the public to use those technologies. The Information Age has arrived, and today's personal computers, personal software, and the World Wide Web are only the beginning.

Therefore, Softdisk's primary mission is to provide personal computer owners with affordable, useful and entertaining software through its online software stores and retail software products, and to provide businesses with cutting-edge web site creation services and Intranet/Extranet technologies.

Softdisk also recognizes that it has a responsibility to the community in which it operates. As a result, Softdisk's secondary mission is to continually improve the Shreveport/Bossier Page it sponsors, and to provide affordable local Internet access to area residents.
