Spellborn Works B.V.
Overview
Spellborn Works was a game development studio based in Rijswijk, the Netherlands and a part of
Spellborn N.V., which in turn was part of the larger
Khaeon group. The company was established specifically for the MMORPG
The Chronicles of Spellborn (2008). Initial development (from 2005 onwards) was done by
Khaeon Games B.V. and eventually Spellborn took everything over.
On 23rd June 2009 the company was declared bankrupt. About 35 people worked for the company at the time. Shortly after the bankruptcy, a statement was made that game would be reworked by Spellborn N.V. (which continued to exist as it had no legal ties to Spellborn Works) and
Frogster Asia Co. Ltd., as a free-to-play title for the Asian market. In August 2010 Frogster announced that no agreement could be reached and the servers were shut down.
