Sphere, Inc.
Overview
Sphere, Inc. combined with another Colorado based company
to become Spectrum Holobyte. This company would be a
part of the Maxwell Empire. When Maxwell fell off a boat in
Europe and disappeared chaos ensued for Spectrum
Holobyte.
Eventually Gilman Louie appeared out of the remains to be
Chairman of the board. Later Alameda based Spectrum
Holobyte would acquire Microprose in 1993. Following that in
1996 it would acquire SimTex. This combined company of
MicroProse, Spectrum Holobyte and SimTex would just
become MicroProse. Failing in a bid to be bought by GT
Interactive it would finally be bought by Hasbro Interactive at
the end of 1998.
At the end of 1999 Hasbro announced the closure of
the Alameda, Chapel Hill Studios.
