Aug 28, 2008:

• The company unveils its plans to acquire Tecmo by purchasing shares in that company at 30 percent premium.

Sep 05, 2008:

• The company withdraws its offer to take over Tecmo, Ltd. Following the proposal, Tecmo instead pursued a merger with KOEI Co., Ltd. Square Enix asked for details about that merger, but initially received none and consequently withdrew the friendly bid.
