Vibrants

Overview

A former Commodore 64 demo group, turned PC scene group, turned professional musicians. Were (and still are) among the best at creating music that sounds amazing on a simple Adlib card.

The following history was based on the description at their web site:

Vibrants has specialized in music for various computer formats since it was founded in 1989. Originally it was only about the Commodore 64. Later, Vibrants also supported AdLib and Roland sound cards on the PC, miscellaneous tracker formats such as MOD and XM, proprietary Amiga music, even MIDI. Although all kinds of formats were utilized, Vibrants was also known for composing music in their own software - especially during the 80's and 90's. Jens-Christian Huus, Jesper Olsen and Thomas Egeskov Petersen coded their own players and editors on the C64, Jens-Christian Huus and Jesper Olsen coded for AdLib and Sound Blaster, and Jesper Olsen made his own players for Roland MT-32 and Amiga.

With one exception, Vibrants has always been an all Danish group. Thomas Mogensen joined Jens-Christian Huus and Klaus Grøngaard in 1989 as the third member, and Scottish Richard Rinn joined in 1990 for a couple of years. Thomas Egeskov Petersen also joined that year and in 1992, Torben Hansen and Jesper Olsen. Morten Sigaard Kristensen joined in 1998 as both a brilliant musician and the webmaster until 2006. Today, Jens-Christian Huus has assumed the role as the new webmaster.
