Wargaming West

Overview

Wargaming West is a US development studio originally founded as Meyer/Glass Interactive (sometimes abbreviated M/GI) in 1997 by Steven Meyer as a division of Meyer/Glass Design, one of the most prolific toy invention design firms in the industry. The division was created to develop games for the Xbox, Sony PlayStation, and PC gaming platforms and their two studios were located in Chicago, Illinois, and Hunt Valley, Maryland.

Mr. Meyer sold the M/GI division in 2001 to industry veterans Denny Thorley, Mike McDonald, and T. J. Wagner who renamed it Day 1 Studios. The new independent company kept the two existing studios and added another location in Seattle, Washington.

Day 1 Studios' first project was MechAssault, which became a successful franchise for the company, and proved useful to Microsoft in promoting their Xbox Live service as the game was bundled with subscriptions for some time.

In 2008, the company reported having 135+ engineers, designers and artists.

On 29th January 2013 Wargaming.net announced the acquisition of the company for $20 million. It was renamed Wargaming West.
