In 1979, not long after leaving New Zealand and moving to Australia, Roger transferred his love of board games, especially S & T, and launched into programming on the Apple II.

After a short time working with SSI in until 1983, Roger along with Ian Trout set up Strategic Studies Group (SSG). After a few years they were joined by Gregor Whiley.

Roger is renowned for his innovative AI with over 50 games to his credit.

During the 1980's Roger was immersed in the Apple Community being the Australasian Apple Core Director, an Apple User Group President & associated with the setting up & development of the Games Development Conference.

With the new millennium, Roger and SSG continue to develop and publish strategy games focusing on war & fantasy.
