Ian Turnbull


Developer BIO

Ian Turnbull has a long history in the gaming industry.

He was a Development Manager with Ocean Software, managing a team of 50 developers and producing several external titles. Ian then moved to Eidos as Director of Development managing an in-house team of 45 plus several external teams. He then worked for Black Cactus as its Commercial and Marketing Director.

Ian's interest in computers was stimulated after building his first home computer 23 years ago while still at school, where he developed his interest in hardware and software development. Having started as a systems engineer on the design of airborne weapon systems, Ian moved on to becoming a European technical trouble-shooter for one of the major Japanese computer companies. His commercial skills were honed while business development manager at Itochu, a $152 billion company, where he was responsible for generating new trade opportunities between Europe and Japan, as well as direct inward investment into UK manufacturing companies. Having identified the games industry as the next big market, Ian made the move to a Japanese publisher where he worked on negotiating Japanese publishing deals with European companies. After that, he went to Ocean, Eidos and Black Cactus.
