Stephen Baysted

Developer Biography

Stephen Baysted is a British film, TV and video game composer. Stephen was nominated for two Motion Picture Sound Editor's Golden Reel Awards and a Game Audio Network Guild Award for his work on Electronic Arts' Need for Speed: Shift, and in 2012 has been nominated for a further Game Audio Network Guild Award for Shift 2: Unleashed.

Born and raised in London, Stephen's passion for music began during his school years, singing and recording with the internationally acclaimed Wandsworth School Boys Choir and playing clarinet in the London Schools Symphony Orchestra. Stephen's music education continued at Southampton University where he gained a BA and an MMus in Music and Composition, and at Dartington College of Arts where he was awarded a PhD.

Stephen is Composer and Audio Director for UK game development studio Slightly Mad Studios and over the past decade he has scored and directed the audio for many games: GTR, GT Legends (SimBin), GTR2, BMW M3 Challenge (Blimey Games), Need for Speed: Shift, Skid Racer, pCARS and Shift 2: Unleashed (Slightly Mad Studios). He has written the music for features, shorts, trailers and over 30 cinema, television and radio advertisements, including notable campaigns for Budweiser, McDonalds and Pizza Hut. Stephen also works with several leading publishers and music libraries on sync projects.

Stephen is a member of Northpole Music - the London-based film music collective directed by Grammy award winning film music producer Steve Mclaughlin and film composer Ilan Eshkeri. He is represented worldwide by The Max Steiner Agency, Hollywood and his music is published by The Kinetic Music Group Ltd.
