John van der Burg started in the industry with freelance work for Lionhead Studios and other developers. He also created the Oxygen3D game engine.
He founded his own company, Mystic Game Development, on 9th September 1999, famous for the real-time character animation system EMotion FX, used in many high-profile games. In between, he also worked on the terrain and sky engine for Black & White 2.
