Kurt Cobain

Developer BIO

Kurt Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994) was an American musician and singer.

Cobain was born in the town of Aberdeen in the state of Washington. From when he was a child he dreamed of becoming a famous musician. This was to come true when he in 1987 formed the band Nirvana with high school friend Krist Novoselic. In the band, Cobain played guitar and sang, and also wrote the songs. In 1989 the band, as a part of the nascent grunge movement, released the album "Bleach," which failed to gain any significant attention. The follow up "Nevermind" from 1991, however, was a different story. The album became a huge success, sold millions of copies and helped instigate the "alternative rock" movements entry into mainstream culture, forever changing the music industry. Moreover, it made Cobain a worldwide celebrity. Cobain also unwillingly became the spokesperson of "Generation X" and the focus of media attention, which documented his heroin addiction. In 1993 Nirvana released "In Utero," which was to be the band's final studio album.

In April, 1994 Cobain, for undisclosed reasons, committed suicide in his home, using a shotgun. He was survived by his wife, Courtney Love and their daughter, Frances Bean. Kurt Cobain, and Nirvana, remains popular to this day.
