Fernando L. Castillo's Work History:

01/04-Present Electronic Arts Technical Artist, Technical Designer, Cinematics Artist, Maxscript & XML Programmer.

Covered diverse technical roles for the art and design departments for the best-selling titles “The Battle For Middle Earth”, “The Battle For Middle Earth II” and “Command &Conquer 3”, including script programming, asset integration and shader development. Participated in the design and implementation of design mechanics, and wrote tools to assist in game design. Assisted in the production of cinematic sequences.

03/03-10/03 Black Ops Entertainment Cinematics Artist, Technical Artist, Maxscript Programmer.

Animated in-game cinematics for “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines”. Wrote Maxscript tools for asset export and other pipeline optimizations. Duties also included additional modeling and texturing. 04/02-03/03 Freelance 3D modeling and animation. Digital Compositing.

Broadcast graphics for abc Kids, Fox Television, Buena Vista Television, ‘The Wayne Brady Show’, ‘MadTV’, among others.

11/99-04/02 New World Computing 3D modeling and animation. Technical Art Lead on “Heroes of Might & Magic IV”

Worked with programmers and designers on pre-production stages to determine the look of the game and establish a work pipeline. Wrote tools for scene export and render automation and built the templates for the artists to work from. Directed the artists and gave them any technical assistance they needed. Produced various artwork when needed, including terrain, adventure objects, creature generators, castles and all spell effects. Also contributed cutscene artwork for “Heroes 3: The Shadow of Death”, ”Heroes Chronicles” and “Might & Magic IX”.

Special Recognitions/Awards:

1999 Sports Emmy Award “Outstanding Graphic Design” for my work on “Super Bowl XXXIII” and “NFL on Fox”. My work has been featured in various magazines and publications, such as “Cadalyst” (Autocad Magazine) Post magazine and 3D Magazine. It has been displayed at SIGGRAPH, NAB and E3. It is also featured in the manual for 3D Studio Max and other graphic applications, and in promotional material for Discreet, Digimatiom, ART and other companies.
