Developer Biography

Joel is currently the Lead Motion Capture Technical Director at ImageMovers Digital. He is in charge of motion capture and performance pipeline development and contributes to furthering motion capture technology in film and games.

Joel was employed in Motion Capture at Electronic Arts from April 2001 to August 2007. He was promoted to Lead Assistant Motion Capture Specialist in the fall of 2003, to Associate Motion Capture Specialist in the summer of 2004 and to Motion Capture Specialist in the Summer of 2006. Joel received the motion capture employee of the year award in 2004 for his contributions in production refinement, research and development, and craftsmanship.

Joel attended the Vancouver Film School where he graduated in 2001 with a Diploma in the Animation and Digital Effects program.

His short film, A Cheese Without Cause went on to win a YTV student film contest and was nominated for an award at the Victoria Film Festival. The film also appeared at the Los Angeles Film Festival and is part of the permanent CBC, new media archives.
