Developer BIO

After receiving a BFA in Industrial Design from Massachusetts College of Art, Welch joined Parker Brothers as a lead designer specializing in electronic toys and games. His first homerun was Bop It, a handheld electronic game that spawned a franchise that has sold over 20 million units to date.

He went on to found Welch Design, where he invented and licensed products to Mattel, Fisher-Price, Milton Bradley, Tiger Electronics, and others. During this time Welch also consulted to Hasbro Interactive, helping the company launch its interactive toy business.

Next Welch joined Hasbro Interactive as Director of Business Development; in this capacity he oversaw developer relations and acquisitions for North America and Europe; he later became Creative Director, where his responsibilities included initiating original concepts and developing concepts based on numerous Hasbro licenses. At Hasbro, Welch was involved with Zapper, Axis and Allies (1998), Atari PurePlay; Dig Dug, Warlords, Ms. PacMan, Monopoly, The Game of Life, Clue, and G.I. Joe.

Next, Welch was Executive Producer for Atari, where he oversaw a strategy game business with franchises that generated $250 million in revenue. His Atari hits included Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Sid Meier’s Pirates, the Civilization series, Axis & Allies (2004), Act of War: Direct Action, RISK: Global Domination, and Atari Anthology.

In 2007 he is CEO and Executive Producer of Super-Ego Games.
