Developer Biography

Jon Shafer joined Firaxis in February 2005, after a long and impressive tenure as a modder in the Civilization community. He received a Bachelor's degree in History from Towson University, made the transition to developer with Sid Meier's Civilization IV, and then worked on Civ IV’s three expansions. He was the lead designer on Sid Meier's Civilization V, the role previously held by Sid Meier himself.

In January 2011 it was confirmed he left the studio and was hired by Stardock to work on the design and mod support for Elemental: War of Magic, and at a point in the future spearhead the development of a new title.
