Shay Pierce began programming games in GWBASIC at the age of 13. Graduating with a BS Computer Science degree from Baylor University in 2003, Shay was soon after hired as an intern by the premiere Houston-based game developer, TimeGate Studios, where he was eventually brought on as a full-time employee and Tools Programmer.
In August 2005, Shay took an opportunity to move to Austin and join Midway's Core Technology Group, where he worked on Midway's modified version of Unreal Engine 3 for use on Midway's XBox 360 and PS3 games; Shay also worked on other tools for Midway's studios, including a powerful web application logging all Perforce development across the company in one searchable database.
After more than a year on CTG, Shay transferred to a game team at Midway Austin, working as a gameplay programmer on an unannounced third-person title for XBox 360 and PS3. In August of 2008, this project was canceled and the team laid off.
In September 2008, Shay moved to Irvine, CA to work for Blizzard Entertainment on prototype-related work on an unannounced title. After completing a major step in the prototype of this project, Shay chose to leave his team at Blizzard and return to his home town of Austin for personal reasons.
Shay currently works at SOE Austin, as a programmer on the DC Universe Online project.
