Barry Cairns

Developer BIO

Shortly after graduating Edinburgh University, Barry briefly worked in the financial sector writing low level embedded software for POS machines before leaving to join Realtime Worlds as a junior programmer. Barry joined the Crackdown team early in the project and was involved in developing several aspects of Crackdown core gameplay and core technology, quickly rising to a senior gameplay programmer role.

After Crackdown, Barry was given a games research role alongside Billy Thomson to develop new game ideas to the prototype level, but it wasn’t long before leaving to join Xen Group to work with Lionhead on Fable II where he focused on physics, combat and networking systems.

Barry now works as a senior programmer for Ruffian Games.
