Benedikt Grindel (b. 6th March, 1969) grew up in Münsterland (Germany) and did 1 year of High School in Minnesota (USA). He finished his Abitur (equivalent to high school diploma), followed by mathematical studies (algebraic number theory, minor: BWL - business studies).

He had several part-time jobs and internships, including editor (print + online), travel guide, advertising compositor and magician. He was first introduced to the game industry through a position in marketing and distribution for a French carpeting manufacturer.

Benedikt Grindel has been with Ubi Soft since 1998, first in marketing (Product Management, Group Management, Group Marketing Director), from 2000 with subsidiary Ludiwap (later Ludigames, now Gameloft) as Business Development Manager

He has been with Blue Byte since April 2001, working as a producer. In 2007, he is producing The Settlers: Rise of an Empire.
