Tomoaki Iishiba

Tomoaki Iishiba is from Japan and served with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan. Later, he was assigned to a military intelligence unit. He was a technical advisor on Metal Gear Solid (1998). Having moved from Japan to the United States to pursue a dream of becoming a soldier, he wrote a book about his experiences and is somewhat of a celebrity among the Japanese troops.

In July 2008 FOB Tacoma reported that he was charged in federal court with trying to ship firearms sights to Japan without an export license.
