Developer Biography

James Rose's most notable accomplishment in the gaming industry is leading Activision's Quality Assurance and Technical Certification Requirements from thirteenth in the industry to number one with a 1.07 submission pass rating. James was instrumental in structuring Activision's Microsoft Technical Certification Requirements Quality Assurance group and practices from the launch of the Xbox 360 console and is credited with guiding over 40 titles through the Microsoft requirements testing and submission process.

His career in the gaming industry started at Activision Publishing, Inc. in Customer Support and quickly moved from there to a Production Testing assignment with Austin, Texas developer, Edge of Reality. Upon returning from Austin, James's was brought in to help finish Activision's major Xbox 360 launch title, Call of Duty 2, before being brought in to be a part of the newly formed Technical Requirements Group. James led the Microsoft division as the department was moved from Activision's headquarters in Santa Monica to satellite offices in El Segundo.

After establishing a team and a process that lead Activision to the highest submission pass rating among third party Xbox publishers and the only publisher to qualify for Microsoft's Platinum Submission status, James began advising and consulting with developers about best development guidelines and practices for meeting submission requirements. In 2010, James was sent by Activision to Leamington Spa, England, to developers Free Style Games, to advise on best methods for designing a compliant title and to train their Quality Assurance department in requirements testing. James returned to Activision from England, to lead the requirement testing team at Activision and assisted in overseeing some of the initial out-sourcing testing trials before Activision reduced the department in favor of outsourcing in 2011.

James is currently providing consulting and Quality Assurance direction for a number of independent developers.
