Charles Martinet

Charles Martinet is known internationally as the "Voice of Mario."

In 1991, there was a fair going on in Seattle involving Nintendo of America. Nintendo never had anybody in line for voicing any of the characters, after he came along, without any idea of what to say, the first thing that came along is "it's a me, Mario." After improvising the entire act, Nintendo of America Chairman, Howard Lincoln , realized that they found someone to be Mario.

With speech and voice acting becoming a more prominent role in video games, he was first used to be the voice of various characters in Super Punch-Out. After this, he has been the voice actor for Mario (and Luigi) in every game Nintendo has published using the character.
