Robin was inspired to become involved in the game industry as a recruiter because she didn't observe anyone in the marketplace with the same level of knowledge about the game industry and how games were made. She joined forces with Mary Margaret after working in marketing and creative services for
Origin Systems in Austin. Robin is well-versed in the needs and requirements of coders, artists, designers and the companies wanting to hire them. Robin is Vice President of Operations at
Mary-Margaret.com, and is a founding director of the firm.
At
Origin Systems/
Electronic Arts, Robin was a pivotal point person in the organization and is credited on over a dozen hit titles, from
System Shock to
Ultima Online. She was a member of the marketing team, providing graphic design for boxes and documentation and coordinating the creation and distribution of international marketing materials for all of
EA’s titles to all of
EA’s studios.
Robin was responsible for coordinating art production between Marketing and Product Development, making her a familiar face all over
Origin. She also worked with internal and outside agencies on many different projects such as packaging, fulfillment, documentation, marketing materials, sales support materials and exhibit coordination. Prior to working at
Origin, Robin worked as a graphic designer for a high-tech consortium, SEMATECH.
Robin has been on the board of The Game Initiative since 2003, contributing to conference programming with topics and speakers. She also serves on the advisory board of the Video Game Developer Continuing Education Program at Austin Community College, developing curriculum and making faculty recommendations. Robin is a regular speaker at the Break Into the Game Industry conferences in various U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington D.C. She is also a long-term member of the Independent Game Developer’s Association.
Robin is a regular commentator for both trade industry and mainstream media, providing insight on the game industry. Recently, she was extensively quoted in a San Jose Mercury News article about industry trends, and was a featured subject in National Public Radio’s Marketplace interview about the game industry. Robin has made numerous editorial contributions to trade magazines such as Animation Magazine.
Robin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Technical Theatre from the University of Houston. Robin has worked in professional live theatre in a variety of roles, including Stage Manager, Prop Master, Set Designer, and Costume Designer. Robin has also donated her time and expertise to the local opera, symphony and the playhouse.
Robin directed special effects make-up for
Richard Garriott and his "Britannia Manor" Halloween extravaganza for six years. Robin recently participated in the Gamers & Designers For Kid’s Sake fund raiser for Big Brothers, Big Sisters, helping to raise thousands of dollars for the local chapter. Robin is based in Austin, Texas, with her husband Mike.
