Michael Cawood

Developer BIO

Mike Cawood’s interest in animation began while watching cartoons as a kid. Halfway through high school, he began immediately to direct his career in the direction of animation. He went on to higher education and received a two-year diploma in Art and Design, all the while teaching himself how to animate in his spare time. At that time, he also began making short films at home. Eventually, he made short films in college as well. It took him three years to complete an advanced Degree in Animation, in Wales.

He joined Rare in 1999, where he created real-time cut-scenes for Starfox Adventures. In 2002, he was moved over to the Kameo: Elements of Power team. Along the line, he took over as Lead Animator.

Michael left Rare on a sabbatical in 2006 to work on Happy Feet in Australia for four months. He returned to Rare and contributed to a number of undisclosed games before leaving at the end of 2006 to pursue other career options.

He has since worked on an animated film in Glasgow and is now working for a Visual Effects house on a variety of projects including his own short animated film.
