Patrick Stewart was born in Yorkshire, England and first began appearing in films in the mid 1970s. He is best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation and the Star Trek films following the series. More recently he has appeared in the major sci-fi film X-Men.
