Shortly after gaining a degree in Mechatronics, Gareth Jones started work in the games industry in 1996 at Rare Ltd. Starting in QA and working on such titles as GoldenEye 007, Blast Corps and the Donkey Kong Country series (amongst others) he made his way up to becoming a games designer in the later part of 1997.
His first game as a designer Conker's Pocket Tales was released in 1998 and he went on to design and work on six further titles, Perfect Dark, Mickey's Racing Adventure, Mickey's Speedway Adventure, Sabre Wulf, Donkey Kong Country and Battletoads across various Game Boy formats from the original Game Boy through to the GBA. Gareth held both lead design and team leader roles at Rare.
He joined Warthog Plc in 2003 as a senior designer and took the role as lead designer on Looney Tunes: Back in Action and proved that he could make the leap to 'next-gen' consoles by completing Animaniacs: The Great Edgar Hunt again in the lead design position.
Latterly, he has been working as project lead and lead designer on products for the Gizmondo unit. He completed the launch title Trailblazer and also POD: Point of Destruction. The team Gareth was leading also had plans for two further titles due for release before the end of 2005.
In 2008 he is with Team 3 Games Limited.
