Developer Biography

Chip Pedersen has been in the tech industry over 25 years first starting at Apple, Inc before moving on to Andersen Consulting’s Advance Technology Group. From there he joined the Microsoft Game Studio when it was less than 50 people. He first worked in the online gaming group, before moving on to the Xbox Sports group where he worked on the NHL, MLB and NBA franchises. Wanting to return home to Minnesota, Chip joined Activision Minneapolis as their Director of Development. Chip formed partnerships with developers all over the world and helped make the Minneapolis office one of Activision’s most profitable studios.

Looking for a new challenge, Chip joined Griffin International to help launch their new gaming division. He helped create the first Xbox 360 fishing controller for the Bass Pro Shops line of fishing games. While at Griffin he also helped launch Bass Pro Shops: The Hunt for Xbox 360, Wii and PC. The franchise has sold over a million units.

In January 2011 Chip started Outdoor Partners Entertainment to continue to develop console and mobile games for Bass Pro Shops.

Chip bases his development philosophy on 3 main principles:

THE PROJECT COMES FIRST: Able to see the big picture and willing to make the tough calls on features, directions and milestones in order to keep projects on track.

HANDS-ON LEADERSHIP: Builds top-notch, high-performance teams through excellent two-way communication. Keeps teams challenged and informed, listening to ideas and rewarding excellence.

EFFECTIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Outstanding record of on-time shipping. Frequently juggled multiple complex projects. Thrives on pressure and constantly re-evaluates priorities, features and milestones.

Chip is currently the Studio Director for Concrete Software and he has his own Indie Studio FrostBit Studio.
