Allan has been involved in the music recording industry since 1982, orchestrating and conducting scores mainly for Film, Television nd Games. Having studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London he went on to teach conducting and orchestral training at the State University of New York where he was awarded a Master of Music degree. He has given lecture recitals in Britain, USA and Canada and was a freelance trumpet player for many years. He has an international reputation as a specialist studio conductor/orchestrator working regularly for producers and studios from both sides of the Atlantic in London, Bratislava, Munich, Berlin and Prague for composers such as Danny Elfman, Christopher Young, Graeme Revell, Richard Hartley, Mark Isham, Basil Poledouris, Robert Folk, Michael Giacchino, James Hannigan, Richard Jacques and Russell Shaw, to name but a few. Allan also conducted all the music for the Doha 2006 Asian Games and is probably one of the most prolific studio conductors in Europe if not the world. He regularly records with the Philharmonia in London.

In recent years, as acoustic music is increasingly being introduced into the games industry, Allan's expertise as advisor, orchestrator, arranger, conductor and music supervisor is being utilised by more and more games composers.
