Tetsuya Takahashi (高橋 哲哉) was born November 18, 1966 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He began his career in video games in the 1980s working with Nihon Falcom. Later, Takahashi has worked at Square on several games, including Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. In 2001 he left Square to start a new company, Monolith Soft.

His most famous work includes Xenogears (1998) and subsequent Xenosaga games, which he directed.
