Platform(s): PC (DOS)

Genre: Top down Space adventure

Estimated year of release: 1989-1993

Graphics/art style: VGA 320x480. Similar to the top-down interstellar view in Star Control 2, but over normal space

Notable characters: None that I know of

Notable gameplay mechanics: Top down space combat, probably similar to Star Control 2, though taking place in the game world. Has 3? views, a close and far view and a 'Battle' view that has flashing red lights on the interface. Has inventory, both quest items and munitions.

Other details: The most significant thing I remember about the game (I was small and watching my dad play it) is that there is an item (some sort of reactor, I think) that a questgiver wants you to keep in your cargo hold and deliver through a stargate to somewhere. If you keep it in your hold your ship will be destroyed (it is a betrayal of some sort). If you eject it (there might be a clue in the game) then you'll go through the stargate safely and either end the game or go to the next episode.

There are fairly long periods of time traveling through space, cruising.

Darn it, people, don't overuse the word "adventure" as it's a whole different genre...

It's the first part of the series, Solar Winds: The Escape.
