View Mode: threaded | watch thread A critical bug is currently corrupting the game data in various areas. To prevent further damage, all approvals are currently on hold until the system is back to normal. As soon as this is resolved, expect the regular updates to be back on speed. We'll keep you posted.Update: Brian was out of town this weekend, sorry for the delay in getting a fix pushed out. The good news is that everything is working fine now and there wasn't any data corruption. It turned out to be an problem with caching, which also had an easy fix. I did it...I did it!!! :p
Can we still submit, or is it better to wait until this is sorted? Am rather busy with preparations for Gamescom anyway. ;-)
Submitting itself shouldn't be a problem.
(Edited by DANIEL HAWKS ! (1843), Aug 16, 2009) Re: Approvals on hold DANIEL HAWKS ! (1843), Aug 16, 2009 Great. Was it a accidental fork bomb ? I need some details as to when my game of the week entry will be ignored again ! ;)
I didn't do it! I didn't do it! I just finally came back after a few days. Hopefully everything will be worked out.
Will now i atleast know why my new submittings aren't approved already for the past weeks :P
It's working again? I just had two release infos approved.
Yep, Brian published a fix so we're good to go again!
Ah yes, I just got an approval message. We're back in business. Glad to hear there wasn't any corruption.
Its very good that its working again, but i still don't get any approval messages for i don't know how long :(
Some queues are busier then others. Some have more approvers then others, too. If you submit anything for the Mac it will probably be approved in the next day or two. :P
Also during this period approvers of certain queues could be on vacation.
Oh, i didn't knew that, thx for the info :P
EDIT:Never mind, I'm an idiot. :o) I've started with the Ps1 queue a little again to catch up. Quite a lot seems to have gathered there in my absence. :)Maybe I'll dare venture in to the huge Ps2 one after that... Doesn't any1 think we need more approvers?

Yes, I think. :) Don't you even think of asking to be an approver. All the contributors who get turned into approvers suddenly stop submitting stuff. :P ![]() Foxhack Wrote:

Actually, please do. That way, the old approvers can start contributing again (with the exception of the European bots who have 8 arms and 2 heads :p) and leave the rest to the new approvers. :) Beware !The oppressed masses of new approvers will rise against this new tyranny ! ;) Actually, some approvers still submit pretty much things.
I was kinda but still not kinda joking.
Not that i want to be an approver...

Hardly ever any game news, almost always one approver/admin congratulating another approver/admin on being a wonderful person for breaking the 5,000,000 contribution points barrier. :) (Edited by DANIEL HAWKS ! well that's the important stuff here on MG - for everything else there's joystiq, gamesradar and whatever :). ![]() Sicarius Wrote:

I agree, though the clear intention when adding the news portion to the site was for it to provide legitimate video game news. Hence why sections such as the Approver Wiki read: "Contributing a news item, with personal opinion or commentary, helps establish an editorial voice for MobyGames to the gaming community." I can't imagine our news section being updated so often as to remain current, though, unless contributors come along with a specific interest in that section of the site. The MobyGames FAQ even makes clear, under the What isn't MobyGames section, that it isn't intended to provide "Up-to-the-minute gaming news (there are tons of other web sites dedicated to gaming news)". I do enjoy the occasional foreign game news that I wouldn't hear of for some time otherwise, though, such as the release of the Zeebo in Brazil. There are also some news items, such as the revitalization of the Monkey Island franchise, that I feel should make it onto the site even if most users have read similar articles prior to that one being approved. yeah obscure news like the policnauts one are always cool but "Gears of War 2 get's 10m DLC" - not really for Moby.
