All PC-FX is belong to us!
YID YANG Bronze Star Contributing Member (162395), Nov 25, 2009
User AvatarPC-FX was NEC's Japan-only console; the first games for it were released in the late 1994, the last in 1998. It sold very poorly and was heavily criticized for abundance of licensed anime titles with limited gameplay. Nevertheless, it is still dear to some anime-loving gamers, mainly thanks to beautiful anime-style FMVs in its games, but also because of some rare exclusive quality titles (such as for example Team Innocent).

I'm proud to announce than the entire PC-FX library (61 games) is now documented on MobyGames. The one "missing" entry is Anime Freak Vol. 4; however, this peculiar "magazine on CD" does not contain, unlike other installments of this series, any games.

I would like to thank the approvers (especially Servo) for the fast and flawless approval process that made adding all those games a pleasure for me.

I also thank the creators of Magic Engine FX, the outstanding PC-FX emulator.

I have submitted game entries and captured screenshots for most of the games (unfortunately, a few titles do not work with the current version of the emulator). What is severely lacking are PC-FX covers; only a few games in the database have them. PC-FX collectors of all countries, unite! We need more covers! :)
User AvatarNice work, Oleg!
User AvatarCongrats!
User AvatarAnother great job by Mobyteam: impressive! :-D
User AvatarFreaking awesome, Oleg!
User AvatarAwesome !

And what is your plan for December? ;o)
User AvatarImpressive! While we may not (yet) compare to the platform-specialist completist sites like lemon64 and worldofspectrum, it's nice to see us gradually accumulating complete documentation of first one platform library, then the next -- especially for those platforms which may have flown under the radars of those nostalgic gamers in the West. Spending time here feels a bit more worthwhile when you realise how much content we have here that is utterly undocumented literally anywhere else online.

Of course, having a solitary individual practically take on platform completion singlehanded is a tremendous feat that warrants congratulations. Once we can hammer down the libraries of all the "closed" systems (those for which no active development continues -- that is, presupposing we can get them all present here as eligible gaming platforms 8), then "all" we have to do is keep up with new games as they're released!
User AvatarGreat job!

My personal favorite is this one!
User AvatarSo which platform is next? :)
User AvatarWow! Awesome work Oleg! I wish I was as persistent with my submitting. Then we'd have more Japanese Ps1 and Dreamcast games here, that's for sure. I'm just too lazy to write up the descriptions usually, and then it stops there. What is your secret? :)

The subject matter on most of those games, of course! =D

That, and I actually like writing descriptions for obscure, unknown games that have no English descriptions anywhere. Makes me proud to finally decipher bits of that Japanese story with Japanese names. Sometimes I have to fill in the blanks, describe things with my own words - it's interesting.

Well, I'm still working on PC-98 games (classified under DOS here). I think 200 or more are still coming. Maybe more. The Japanese PC-98 library is huge.

When I'm done with those, I plan to add all the remaining missing PC Engine (TurboGrafx CD) games. Might be well over 300 left.

Afterwards, Sega Saturn will be the goal. I know less about this one, and it will be harder to find all the missing stuff, so if anyone is willing to help...

When Sharp X68000 and FM Towns are added, I'll be certainly working on them like mad. It will be easier, though, since they have less games than PC-98, and a lot of overlapping titles.

It would be nice to complete Playstation, of course. But I think it's already being covered by other guys.

If I have time left afterwards, I'll be adding Japanese-only hentai Windows games, even though most of them are crap.

Theoretically, the goal is to add all Japanese-only games ever released. Which will be hard.

Also, I'm planning to add someday all Chinese games. Which will be even harder.
User AvatarGreat work, kudos!
User AvatarI intended to finish submitting stuff for NeoGeo CD a while back. But I got sidetracked...

User AvatarNice work, though you missed a couple obscure ones:

- Cocktail Pack (Cancan Bunny / Pia Carrot compilation)

- Nnyƫ (a PC-FXGA demo game)

- Same Game FX (another PC-FXGA demo game)

Note that "demo game" is not the same as "game demo". Those 3D games were published by NEC to show off the potential of the 3DGA (3D Game Adapter) extension for PC-FX. Unfortunately, this extension was never released, except in the form of a development card for Japanese PCs (in ISA and C-Bus flavours).

Damn! The compilation! Damn it! How could I forget... I'll add it right now :(

Yup, I heard about them, but you can't play them on a normal PC-FX, right?
User AvatarAbsolutely outstanding! I love completed platforms!

I always meant to get to all of Atari Lynx, but never got around to it. If anyone wants a mission...
I thought it's against MG's policy to upload screenshots based on software emulation or has this been removed?
User AvatarDepends on how authentically the results are served up; if the emulated resolution or aspect ratio (or language, in the case of fan translation ROM patches) isn't representative of actual gameplay on the actual console hardware, the shot doesn't cut the mustard.
User AvatarUh, what? We have a ton of screenshots from emulation across many platforms. The thing is, we don't like screenshots which have been graphically enhanced or are not accurate, like stuff from N64 or PS1 emulators (I could never get those running right.)
I have a PC-FX!
User AvatarI have a PC-FX!

Do you also own original games for it? Why don't you scan and submit some covers?
User AvatarI think he'll just blackmail us with the prospect until his polls get approved.

See what I can do...

User AvatarI'll bite my own head off if you submit a single complete set in a high resolution.

Behold, fellow MobyGamers, as the long standing empire of Sciere is about to crumble once his head is bitten off his neck! =D

You mean "off his neck" :) It's improbable he has two heads connected to each other :)

Then again, it's improbable a person can submit stuff for 120000 points :) For all we know, nothing happens if Sciere bites his head off; maybe he grows another one immediately. With Sciere, anything is possible :)
User AvatarLOL, I'll edit that! My head isn't quite above my neck right now. =)
User AvatarIf he's going to bite his own head off, he MUST have two heads, actually.

LOL! I didn't think of that... what amazing logic :)
I will actually upload some pics if someone tells me how to godamn do so!

Can't upload them on to my user page then?

Oh boy. Why did you join this site?
Partly cos I wanted to contribute, but also partly cos of my wikiproject...
