Just a short note that, tragically, former MobyGames contributor PolloDiablo, aka Astrid Beulink (who is ranked in the Top 60 all-time on Moby) lost her battle with cancer earlier this month, according to Adventure-Treff (German-language). Astrid - who posted in the Approver forum in November to update us on her progress - was very active in the adventure gaming community in particular as a beta tester and contributor. She will be missed by all of the communities she supported, including us here at Moby.

I had no idea...

May she rest in peace, and may all those she left behind find some source of comfort when they'll need it.

Sad news, indeed, and my thoughts and best wishes are with her family and friends.

She is the second female Moby contributor to lose the cancer battle, hopefully this won't repeat itself a third time.

I hope one day cancer will lose the battle!

It made me feel better that such a respected person would choose to devote so many labours amidst the community here at this troubled site.

I'm never comfortable comenting on the passing of someone I never knew or had any contact with. However after reading the enormous number of tributes on adventurgamer.com, thanks to Pseudo_Intellectual for the link, and looking at some of her work here at moby it's clear that Astrid was someone special. She will be missed.

This is a small community, so I guess we end up caring for each member even when we don't have much contact with someone in particular. Astrid will be missed, rest in peace.

it is like when every night (or in some cases, every morning...) one goes to sleep. With the difference that there is no further waking up. No further lies, mind-hiding, orders, struggle, envy, to stand. Ah, and I was forgetting the day when the same eyes that were "weepy with joy" solely looking at you look at you like the days before but in them you read a wide, new, evidently indelible "who is this stranger? I hope he gets out of my sights, it's annoying. Why is he here? I don't know him, sincerely".

Lucky woman.. free from the most frustrating possible gameplay

You sound like you hate life, but maybe she loved it? She didn't commit suicide, maybe she wanted her life to go on - so how is she "lucky"? At the approvers' forum she even said "I'm sorry for not contributing lately", this shows how dedicated she was to MG community even in such desperate moment of her life.

∑, don't project your own emo problems into other people... it sounds egocentric and inconsiderate.

We really need to express our condolences a tad better by at least providing her with a better developer bio and also mentioning her invaluable contributions to the MG database project.

Astrid Beulink.

We never crossed paths here, but I recall seeing her name pop up once in a while.

Rest in peace.

I haven't noticed it before, but many of the games I played were added to MG by her and some were tested by her as well. She was responsible for hours of my joy, but I didn't realize it until now, when she is no more. Sad...

Rest in peace, Astrid Beulink. You've brought joy to many and that is a wonderful legacy.
