According to Sliced Gaming the Ubisoft Wii exclusive Red Steel box art that has been floating around the Internet is fake. SG forum member Eyce has admitted to creating the phony. The bogus box art even made its way onto that experiment of quantum truth Wikipedia. Chad Acers at Ubisoft Australia confirmed the fake and is quoted as saying;
"We have yet to see any local/US box art for Red Steel. So, yup, it's a fake as far as I can tell." Historically this has not been much of a problem for MobyGames. Our policy of only accepting scanned in cover art from the actual packaging has meant few accepted phonies. However this policy is changing. Official promotional cover art is now accepted and we will be accepting pre-releases shortly. Is this sort of tom foolery just going to be part of life? Is that such a bad thing? If there ever was a clear-cut criterion for fanboyism, the creation of false box art is it.

Just wait until Mobygames starts accepting cosplay photos. Or until we start accepting pictures of developers 20 years from now! (approver inside joke) :D

Just wait until Mobygames starts accepting cosplay photos. I believe the guy on my avatar should be the first one on the list. I think I will add one now. It's of a certain company boss masquerading as a certain famous puzzle character.
