IGN is hinting that Square Enix may be working on a new installment in the Kingdom Hearts series. During a company trailer at the Jump Festa show in Tokyo the words "New Project Starting in 2007" appeared briefly at the end following clips from Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, a Japanese release of the English version of Kingdom Hearts II.

I am sure the company reasoning when something like this, "Hmmm. Kingdom Hearts II was pretty successful. What should our next project be? Maybe, Kingdom Hearts III"

Everyone always complains so much about sequels and then those very same people go out an buy the next installment in the franchise.

If you restrict your console game consumption to good original games not based on prior games or licensed material, the available selection goes way down. Supporting game design trends by purchasing arguably weaker titles may seem a bit abstract of a "vote with your dollars" concept for most consumers. "I don't like this game. Actually, I didn't even expect to... but I support what the developers are trying to do."

The problem is I suppose that for the console market, any experiment is by necessity a huge gamble.
User AvatarDon't tell me about those Kingdom Hearts... Squaresoft was my favorite company, but I feel they have run out of creativity since they merged with Enix. First the unbearable "pop" Final Fantasy X-2, now this weird Final Fantasy XII, stone-age Dragon Quest VIII... and Kingdom Hearts games. Maybe they just want to make monkeyislandgirl happy :-/
User AvatarI heard that they were doing a PS2 version of Chain of Memories. *shrug*
