You don't deserve it?
nullnullnull (1473), Dec 18, 2006
A New York CNN staffer writes about her experiences waiting in line and actually buying a Wii this holiday season. Not a launch day story, but has all the launch day dramatic elements. Hope, fear, joy. She ended up having to get a police escort away from the store as the clerks announced that the supply had run out and the crowd turned menacing. One shopper told her, "There's no way you deserve that game system..."

Can someone really deserve a Wii more than another. Sure there are fans and there are FANS, but if you wait in line and pay the money, what entitles one person over another?

User AvatarThat's crazy. Not entirely unexpected, what with Christmas right around the corner, but still. I'm kind of surprised that security didn't show up sooner. Makes me grateful I pre-ordered mine and got it a month ago so I don't have to deal with that crap.

And can someone be more deserving of the Wii? Not if they didn't think it was worth it to reserve one ahead of time, wait to the last minute to get one or not bother to get in line sooner. The bottom line is, if someone was in the line ahead of you, they deserve it more. Because they got there first.

I bet you anything half of those jackasses are the type that would put the Wii-mote through their plasma screen.
User AvatarAll I could think of when I read the article was the original Dawn of the Dead film.

It's a friggin' game system, people, not salvation in silicon.

I honestly thought that I would be able to get a Wii without waiting in line or pre-ordering one, and now I don't have it nearly a month later. Though, I don't intend to wait in line for days just to get the Wii. I guess I'll wait until more Wii's come out in my area or pre-order one if and when I can. I guess I don't deserve one, but when I get it, all the people that deserve the system will already have it.
User AvatarMan, isn't that a bit harsh to say that someone doesn't deserve it? I know deep inside we want to get it before they all run out, but that's just mean.

And I thought Nintendo fans were better than that. :-(
I think the only person who didn't deserve one was the fan that said it... Nintendo fans are rarely like this, it's normally the parents who can't seem to find them for their little Nintendo fans.

User AvatarI deserve the Wii more than anyone here. As a matter of fact, I'm so deserving that all of you should do without so I can have multiple units, your units. I deserve the Wii, you don't!

:)

User AvatarI have a hunch that the "You don't deserve it" guy was some hyperactive parent who just wants to make little Johnny happy and get him that "Why" for Xmas.

User AvatarAh well, it was probably someone that waited a very long time in line and had their hopes up only to be cut short in the final minutes. They were just frustrated. The comment was rude but at least nobody has been shot over a Wii (yet).
