View Mode: threaded | watch thread It had to happen eventually... Viacom's sued Google and YouTube for $1,000,000,000 due to copyright infringement. You'd think that insisting that YouTube removes their copyrighted videos would be enough. As much as I love YouTube and how it's all free, I don't think they have a leg to stand on.
I'm not surprised. Their best shot is getting an agreement to delete all complete episodes (which is nonsense, considering I could get them on much higher quality from torrent sites) and allow snippets not larger than two or three minutes long as publicity stuff. A lot of people (particularly blog persons) use YouTube to praise series or sequences from movies which ultimately increase their possible audience, so cutting everything out doesn't benefit anyone.
This has what to do with games now?

Nothing. Tho you tube is entirely user generated content as is MobyGames. Some of the same issues apply. This is probably why we are so touchy about lifting other sites shots and cover art. ![]() Andy Voss Wrote:

i am sure that eventually they will settle with 10-100 times smaller number ![]() tarmo888 Wrote: Abi79 Wrote:

i am sure that eventually they will settle with 10-100 times smaller number ... or a cut of the advertising revenue of each video page, like BBC. lol $1,000,000,000 is pennies for a company subsidized by Google.
I've always kind of liked Google. They seem to rely on quality products rather than simply buying out the competition. It will be interesting to see how this develops.
